LAS VEGAS (April 26, 2007)
– Gaming Laboratories International will play a key role at the 5th
annual Gaming Technology Summit. Billed as the industry’s leading
technology conference, GTS takes place May 22-24 at Green Valley Ranch
Resort in Las Vegas.
GLI is an official event sponsor, and GLI President James R. Maida will
appear on a panel.
Maida will speak on the panel,
“Technology Implementations in Emerging Markets.”
The discussion will focus on technology’s role in the expansion of
markets like Macau, Latin
America and Russia,
and whether or not large operators with advanced technologies gain a
strategic advantage in their efforts to acquire customer loyalty
overseas.
Maida said, “GLI has nine offices on
five continents, and we serve more nearly 400 jurisdictions worldwide.
That makes us very fortunate, because we are able to see technological
advances and developments in markets across the world, and we are then
able to help regulators across jurisdictions by sharing experiences from
other jurisdictions.”

GLI
Issues first Communication Connection Certificates for Macau
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the
world’s first private gaming device and systems testing laboratory,
issued the first communication certificates for Casinos in Macau.
GLI Managing Director Ian
Hughes said, “In addition to
regulatory compliance testing against GLI-11 for the DICJ, specific
testing for communications against the various systems is now critical in
Macau
which uses advanced features of systems and has specific language
requirements. Manufactures and
Operators benefit from the value of a formal testing process knowing the
devices will operate in this environment as intended.”
The process involves a review of
operator’s requirements and systems then tailoring testing to
ensure those aspects of device operation comply to the appropriate
communication protocols. GLI
undertakes specific testing against communication requirements of various
systems in its interoperability centre to ensure correct communication
once installed.
“As an operator it is important to know that gaming machines and
devices will operate correctly with the systems we have installed. Having communication reports that are
specific to the protocols and systems gives us a greater degree of
confidence prior to operation.”
Said Ashley McLean, Electronic Gaming Manager, Galaxy StarWorld, Macau.
GLI has either consulted and/or tested
machines for more than 400 jurisdictions worldwide including Aland,
Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
The Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
and the United
Kingdom.
